I put that M&W Rayjay turbo on my 1155......can't hardly hear it whistle at idle, only at 2,000 rpm do you kinda hear it.....I'm disappointed!!!
Gonna run this one for awhile since it's brand new but down the road I wanna go bigger I think.....didn't you say you've put bigger turbos on these 55's??? Remember the model number??? I wanna hear it whistle loud!!!! Lol
Thanks

Do you have a boost gauge on the intake manifold, would like to know what the pressure is on a dyno at full load 2000-2200 RPM. M&W turbos worked but kept the boost levels low on tractors I've seen. My 1150 had a Rotomaster V-2 trim with a P.96 exhaust housing and would produce 13-15 PSI manifold pressure, was mostly quiet. I don't care about the noise, I want it to work and have a clean exhaust. Not sure what you could put on for more whistle...

Yeah I do have a boost/pyrometer combination gauge I installed but I must have pinched the plastic tube when installing so when we dyno'd tractor it wasn't functioning. I have the injection pump off now at the pump shop getting rebuilt so will dyno again after installation of pump w fixed boost gauge.
I like the turbo whistle......means it's working and not just along for the ride. Had a few guys tell me that the big problem with that M&W kit was it didn't move enough air to really benefit......true/false......I don't know!!??

You should have the P5218 pump, it came with the tapered cam bearings. 1150 had the P5101 pump with ball bearings which should be replaced with the 503742 bearings like the 1155 had. M&W was conservative when matching turbo size to engine to prevent over boosting when bubba got crazy with the fuel screw to get more boost...

Yeah I have the Simms P5218 pump on my tractor.
Wouldn't start without pushing in fuel excess button even at 60 degrees F!

Hi That v8 perk puller i got here has a Garrett
airesearch fitted, that whistles at just above
idle, had one on a Belarus in the U.K that was
the same to.
Lots of turbos on tractors from the early 80's
or before, That I remember seemed to only
whistle at 3/4 or foot to the boards. I guess
its the lag from the thing spooling up with the
engine rpms. I believe the airesearch doesn't
have a big lag, its mildly boosting all the
time, from what the Belarus techs told us when
they fitted the kits to bring 825 tractors up
to 110+ HP.
Regards Robert

Hello Ribert,

You could by chance get me the model number off that Garrett airsearch turbo could you? Thanks
