MF-240-S Suprise Hidden Fuses - FYI

Have had no luck getting horn to work for a about a year, and lately could not get flasher / blinker lights to work. Owner's manual shows 6-fuse fuse-block under the dash, but all fuses are A-OK. Long story short, after lots of investigation, today I discovered at least two other hidden fuses, in small black screw-together fuse holders, further behind the tachometer. Replaced them, voila, everything works. No mention of these surprise fuses anywhere in manual.
You cannot figure out some electrical MF thing? You too might have some surprise hidden fuses.

Our 240 has ALL the fuses in those inline wire things. None are labeled either. Lost my lights one time, took a while to dig through that wiring mess to even find fuses, let alone the right one...

On flea bay they have fuse blocks that use the new auto type plug in fuses in different sizes 4,6,8,10, 12 etc. I use these when I am wiring a tractor. You can put the block in a convenient location. FYI

Welcome to the forums.

In most cases you will get more views if you start a new thread of your own. Some will look at the date of the original post, March 2015, and just pass by it.

As for your fuses, they may not be exposed, they may be inside a covered "box", same idea as cars and truck use now but smaller.

Hello James, welcome to YT! I also agree you should post your own topic, you will do this by using the “Post thread” red box at the top of the page. To get that to show you will have to exit this topic by clicking the “Massey Harris and Massey Ferguson” wording you will find at the top of the page with an arrow to its left. I wonder if by chance a wire was accidentally left off of the starter solenoid stud that the positive battery cable is on. Do all other electrical items seem to function like the lights, the horn, fuel gauge? I would recommend a double check for a misplaced wire around the starter. Any fuse you come across should be checked. If you don’t have one you should purchase a 12 volt test light. Auto parts stores carry them. Clip the ground lead onto a metal part. It is always good to test the light to make sure it is grounded good. If you have it hooked up to reach the dash stretch it out the door first and hold it on the battery post stud for the solenoid. If it is lighting it is good. Any fuse should have power on both sides. If one side has power and the other does not then that fuse is out or not making a proper connection. In the case of a glass tube fuse alway check the clips that it clips in for power on both sides this eliminates possible bad fuse connections. Plastic blade fuses have little terminal spots on either side of the amp number for checking those type.
