Would a M-50 Massey Ferguson diesel be worth $500
Now i know nothing about the tractor except a picture or 2 . Im just wondering is it even worth 500 dollars to fix or even scrap
 
The guy is asking 1000 for it but he is saying a mechanic told him it needs a motor. from the picture the sheet metal dont look that bad of shape but no telling when the picture was taken. I offered 500 if he will consider that just waiting for responce now.
I just didnt want to put alot of money in a tractor that i didnt know if it was even worth 1000 running

I don't see a lot of 50 diesels around here. I think back when they were new a 65 could've been had for not much more money. A lot more tractor for not a lot more money. I see quite a few 65s around.
 
As I understand it the 50 is basically a 35 with a different front end and some different sheet metal. I would say that if you find it is not worth repairing it would be more than worth it for parts if you have the time and patience to part it out.

I actually wouldnt mind fixing just to have another tractor. And I dont mind parting it out either if i see its FUBAR. If i can make a little money on it thats always good to. I have a 135 4 cyl gas i finished totally rebuilding last winter.
 
I'd definitely go 500... You are not really rolling the dice on that amount. Let us know how it turns out...

i will do that as soon as the guy calls me back ill give a update. I do value and appreciate the info on this from yall folks.
 
If it looks reasonably complete, I would pay $500 just to have it for parts. I do have a bad tendency though to start fixing up 'parts' tractors...
