A fellow near me has two pony's for sale. One complete the other had a tree fall on it! They have not run in a long time. They have the Continental flat head 4 cylinder engines. I see by the serial number listing on this site that there is one group from 47 to 49 that start with PGS and from 50 to 53 the serial numbers start with PGA. What where the differences for the two serial number groups?

hello. biggest difference I see is early one had mechanical lift and later one had a hydraulic cylinder do it for you.
other subtle differences were in the gear shift rod. one was straight, other had slight offset. other difference, key start vs key and push button mine has the key start switch.
great little tractors, fun machines

(quoted from post at 06:33:10 03/04/15) PGS numbers have the standard front axle (Non adjustable). PGA numbers have the adjustable front axle.

What is the correct time frame for the PGS (non adjustable) front axle and the PGA (adjustable)axle?.i was always told/heard that only 47 - 48's had that non ajustable axle and i have also heard they changed over half way during the year in 48 to the adjustable axle style.some will say Massey did not make the change untill 1950.John
