820 disk question

I am in search of a different disk. I have seen a couple 820 disks advertised, but I have no idea how good they are. Rock-flex is absolutely mandatory. Can somebody chime in with how they compare to Krause, IH, White etc?
TIA

I personally have no experience with the MF disks. Have a neighbor that has two 820 MF disks. Think they are somewhere around 30 ft. They seem to do a pretty nice job out in the field just driving by his fields. Looks to chop the stalks up pretty good.
I have looked at them on tractorhouse but must admit I was not interested in them after looking at the hitch. Look light built to me......rest of the disk looks good tho.
We run White 272 34ft and an Oliver 271 24ft disks. These are rock flex and are built like a tank. Our oliver we bought new in 1973 and are still using it every fall.....won't be able to say that with the implements built today!
I'd take a good look at a White disk if I were you!
Good luck

My first choice has been a 273 White, but they are
hard to find. The 271 has lighter axles than the
273 by far.
thanks for the input.

Yes u are correct, the early models 271 and 272 series used a
11/8 square axle with a light two piece round steel flanges that housed a greaseable bearing......we are always replacing them on the oliver of ours!
The very late production 272 and 274 models used a 11/2 square shaft while 273 used 11/8 square shaft yet....all used heavier welded two piece square flange with greasable bearing.....our white has this bearing combo.....much better design......recommend finding one of these!
They come up on tractorhouse for sale quite often.....just keep an eye out on there!
Also most parts are available from Agco yet too.....
Good luck......

I have 3 820,s a 30ft 27ft 25ft, parts are available, we have no trouble with hitch breakage. In my opinion a good disc.

(quoted from post at 22:30:11 03/03/15) I forgot to add be sure to get the crawler hitch it is much better and can be bought thru parts.

I'd like to see pictures of this crawler hitch you speak of.......hopefully it's alot heavier than the standard hitch!?

When I say crawler hitch It is two plates together to make the hitch for the pin to go thru. The hole is oval about two x three inches to allow for a twist. I have to repeat myself and say we never had a breakage of the tongue+

I thought it was a totally different hitch design......our white/oliver has the same "crawler hitch" that you speak of too.
Glad you've had good service out of your MF disks......
Take care Luke
