Found out the hard way on Saturday the fuel filters were dirty on our 285- I was hauling manure down the road and after climbing a slight grade it lost power and rolled to a stop. Got a nieghbor who lived close to just pull me off the road with his truck, then I went to work on it.
It was after the dealer closed, but we've got a neighbor with a pair of Massey's and he just so happened to have a mis-matched pair of filters so I could get going again. I was surprised that it just sucked air into the system and died, instead of like our Oliver 1855 which just loses power but doesn't quit. Didn't think it was that long since I changed filters either, but I guess it was long enough. Gotta get to the dealer and buy 2 pair, one for us and one for our neighbor. We've got every other filter in the shop, just not fuel filters for the 285.
Now it's sitting in the driveway with a flat rear tire (same day). Tire guy should be out tomorrow to swap it out.
