You guys gave me a lot of good advise. I have the cover off, see pics in last post. Some of the linkage looks messed up. I have not looked into the cyl yet but the bone shaft seems to be floating in there, not connected to the piston. I need to pull the pump and clean it up. Looks like maybe the shaft has to be removed to pull the pump. Can I test the pump with the lid off? Thanks

Hi Dick,
See your other thread about having the cover off. It might help keeping the info you need in a fewer number of new threads, otherwise it could get not just confusing for those responding, but for you to find the info on the same problem. Thanks.

For a short answer here, yes, the pump lever linkage is messed up. I don't have the 165 parts book at ready hand, so your best bet is to go to agcopartsbook.com and look up the 165 (or 175) hydraulic system parts breakdown. Others, such as PTFarmer can give you better advice on the specifics of the lever system. The rest of the system is a solid holdover from the MF50/65 that I have experience with (reworked my own, and one for a neighbor).
