Originally split this tractor to replace clutch(s), but decided to remove the head to deal with a leaky gasket. Lots of carbon, soot, etc.; so I disassembled the head to decarbonize, check seats, valves and guides. Apart from the manual that came with the tractor (it is an aftermarket), I am looking for specifications and info pertaining to items such as: valve angle, minimum valve margin (after re-facing), whether (or not) the seats are replaceable, and how to diagnose the excessive carbon build up pre-combustion chambers, etc. Also, can this engine be supported on a conventional (automotive) engine rebuild stand. I asked this question on another website that (supposedly) specializes in MF 35's and got no response. Sorry Yesterday's. I know there [i:bed585f781]are[/i:bed585f781] rebuild DVD's available (maybe even from this website) for the A3.152. My question: What DVD do you recommend? Does it have EVERYTHING I need to know about the 152?

Burrr!
I appreciate any advice you can provide.
Thanks. [b:bed585f781][/b:bed585f781]

Excessive carbon on valves is often bad valve guides and/or seals. It can also be due to injector problems.

For a crude check of the valve guides, remove a valve spring, lower the valve about a quarter inch (6mm) and see if it wiggles sideways. Exhaust valve guides tend to wear faster than intake due to the higher heat.

Thanks. There is .005 - .0055 clearance between valves and stems (spec is .002 - .0045), the valve faces are grooved, and the contact area is near the top of the faces on most of the valves. So, I guess valves and guides are in order. No seals on any of the guides. Should there be? Any idea if the seats are replaceable?

According to AGCO parts:
733045M1 Insert, Intake Valve Seat (Perkins No. 0470676)
733046M1 Insert, Exhaust Valve Seat (Perkins No. 0470677)
732445M1 Guide, Valve (Perkins No. 33261723)
Shows no valve seals.
