massey ferguson 135 Perkins diesel injector pump

Took my father's 135 into the massey ferguson dealer to have some fuel leaks fixed. They called and said that the injector pump needed rebuilding and that they would have to send it off for repairs. keep in mind that the tractor ran great before it went into the shop. It crank great. Snow could be up to the top of the exhaust pipe and all you needed to do was bump the starter. Great power etc. Theyou called back 2 days later and said that the pump was warn past repair and needed replacement. I went to pick the tractor up and noticed that it did not sound the same cranking. After driving it around the dealer it began blue smoking and lost power. The mechanic worked on it for a few minutes and bleed the pump And had it running good.
Took it home and the next cold day we tried to crank it we had to crank and crank the engine to get it to run. Also when you have it above idle and bring it back to an idle it Stumbles before going into an idle. The new pump says built in Romania. I am kinda scared of that. Can anyone point me in some kind of direction with this issue. Thanks.

Sounds like a typical dealer, 90% of the time they will rip you off. I remember going to the local car dealer where I bought my car as they offered a free state inspection. They said I needed 2 new front tires before they would inspect it. I opted not to and took it to a local garage and they said there was nothing wrong with the tires and they still had plenty of tread left. I ran the tires for another year over 12.000 miles.

Was you able to get your old pump back?

They may not have timed it properly??
On the mounting flange of the pump, by the mounting bolt, there should be a timing line scribed into the pump flange..
That line corresponds to another set of lines on the engine block.. What *'s does it say??
1 other thing is.. you should have told them from the start, that it cranked fine.. you just wanted the leaks fixed..
I've seen PLENTY of pump internals, the head& rotor, that "looked bad" and even failed the cranking spec on the test stand.. but the customer said it started fine and opted NOT to replace the main pumping unit [head&rotor].. and sure enough, it DID start fine.. on the tractor..
IF the tag does indeed say, Romania, you got yourself some, new old stock..
By chance, did you jot down your OLD PUMP #'s to compare it to the "NEW PUMP" #'s??

Sounds like it may be leaking down something not
tight but I suppose there would be a telltale fuel
leak to go with it.Time to demand your old injector
back.
