I'm looking at either a MF 35 or MF 135. I want to pull a harrow use a 5' brush cutter and use a 6' tiller. Was wanting to know the minimum HP tractor needed to use each of these implements. Thanks

MF 135 has 45 engine HP and 35 PTO HP (depending on what docs you look at) for the MF 135 Diesel.

This should pull and 5 to 6 foot brush hog and a 6 foot tiller no issues. The harrow will depend on what size of harrow you are talking about.

Not sure about the Gas version of the MF-135

One thing to be aware of one the MF 135 is DO NOT lift up on the gear shift lever when changing gears or you will get it jammed. Not a big issue to get unstuck only takes a big screwdriver or pry bar to move the fork.

Use the palm of your hand placed on the gear shift lever and slide it into neutral before selecting next gear. Do this and you will have no issues.

Other than the shifting thing the MF 135 Diesels are great little workhorses.

Hope to get my dad's back in the field soon. Love those 135's

If it had a Continental Z145 gas it was 35 pto horsepower. The Perkins 153 gas was 37 pto horsepower.

I have a MF 35 and a Ferguson T035. I use a 5 foot rotary mower and a 6 foot 2 stage snowblower. Each machine (virtually identical) has no problem handling the implements.

My TO 35 will do this if you pull up on the gear
shift lever when you are changing gears.

Some one said the transmission shift rails are worn.
But as you said, just keep a slight downward
pressure on the gear shift lever and you will not
have any problems.

I operate the same equipment as you have with a Massey Ferguson 35X 3 cylinder Diesel. My Tractor has a 3 speed trans. with a High and low range. Third gear Low range it has lots of power. 44 HP It also has a leaver to engage the Posi-track and the rear tires 26" are filled with calcium chloride.

Thanks guys. I guess I'm thinking more hp is better. Guess the gearing and torque make the difference? Was thinking 35 hp was not much but from your comments it should be fine.
