high clearance to standard transmission swap

I was wondering if anyone has swapped a massey ferguson 50,35 or f40 transmission from a standard onto a high clearance. I do a lot of tractor pulls and have had good luck with the trani on my high clearance. I'm in process of doing another f40 and have the option of putting a standard trani in, thinking the lower gearing in the standard would be a benefit. Has anyone experimented at all with this kind of thing.

The main drive shaft on the standard(utility) has 18 teeth and hi clr has 17 teeth. The counter shaft gear has 50 teeth on std and 51 teeth on hi clr. The pto shaft gearing also changes between the std and hi clr, but that isn't a concern in this application. That is all the differences I could find.

Gearing is not the same on standard and hi clearance transmission tractors, look at the input shaft gear tooth count. Hi clear has fewer teeth on input and more teeth on the countershaft driven gear. If a standard trans is installed on a hi clear tractor the speeds will be faster than factory stock. Applies to 50, 65, 85, and Super 90. Didn't check the 100 series parts list, but I think it applies to those models also.

so your thoughts would mean my gearing would actually be higher and not lower if I replace the hi clr with a standard trani. I was hoping to be the opposite.

Standard trans is geared faster for the 28 inch rim size and hi clear trans is geared slower for the 38 inch rim size so the ground speeds between both tractors will be close to the same. If a standard trans is put in a hi clear ground speeds will be faster than stock. If a hi clear trans is put in a standard it will slow it down a bit.

I knew there was a difference in gearing somewhere, but never knew where. Is the differential ratio the same for both standard and high arch?

Differential gear set is the same for both standard and hi clear tractors on the 50 and 65. 85 and S90 the gears are the same also but diff is flipped over from standard with planetary to hi clear with the drop box axle. If put in wrong you would have 8 reverse and 2 forward..
