MY 35 bonnet and grille fasteners - Help!

I know that someone will make me feel really stupid but I am confused.

I am renewing the front grille on my MF 35x, its all sprayed and ready to go. I have purchased the new fittings but dont get what the weird washer / liner is and more importantly how to fit it. I have same issue with the chrome handles for the bonnet top. I guess it has to be squeezed together some how but cant find any advise anywhere.

Please help. Photo shows the bits for the grill.

DavidP will no doubt know how to do this in his sleep.

The aluminum ring goes through the hole in the bonnet (hood) and gets swaged in place. There is a tool for doing so, and should be available from wherever you got the fasteners. The E clip would be removed from the pin, the fastener inserted through the hole, then the E clip put back on.

I have a swaging tool for "Air-Loc" fasteners, same principle but would probably be a slightly different size than yours. I use a "C" clamp to press the tool on the rings. I you like, I'll post a picture later, when I can make time to find the tool and edit the pic to postable size.

Thanks for the reply.

I phoned Agriline and Mayhill Tractors who are two
large parts companies in the UK - both couldn't
help with what to do with the Aluminium ring, so
thanks. I guessed it needed pressing into place in
some way.

Any advice on the right swage tool would be
helpful.
