Took the 2 hour tour Thursday, tour guide was previous retired plant manager. Enjoyed it very much. No pictures, cameras not allowed, and we were not allowed inside the Engineering Department. Plant is clean, neat, extremely well organized, very safety-conscious, very OSHA ocnscious. We toured all the fabrication areas, lots of big-time manual gas-protected wire-welding, robot-wire-welding, broaching, bending, hobbing, grinding, you name it. Every weld looked perfect. Just made you want to get in there, just over the weekend, if they'd only let you, all the possibilities of things you could make...
New $50 million paint building, German-designed, state of the art, better than BMW or Mercedes, 25,000 gallon vat after 25,000 gallon vat, pickling / rinse / primer / etc etc etc/ paint dipping vats, extremely interesting. Didn't see one operator in the entire paint building. AGCO is stopping water-bath spray painting, going to powder coating. They make MF, Challenger, and I think Fendt.
Newest robots are huge things, the humans are feeding the 'Bots parts, loading the 'Bots.
On the bigger MF combines, you can choose the red-white-blue flag sides option, for an additional $4500 or so. Can get MF red, can also get a bad-looking all-black.
Saw the new combine final-test room, every combine gets a final test, rough-ground shake test, speed dino test, electric test, etc etc etc. Every so often one needs to get pulled for a correction.
I highly recommend the tour. Cannot miss the AGCO plant, get to Hesston, KS, take Lincoln Blvd, go a few blocks, it's on the right. Call Melissa 1.620.327.6431, and she'll get you a motel reservation nearby, and get you a tour date and time.
I want to go back, see more of what I missed. We saw it all, but we really hoofed it. Didn't waste any time.

My partner and I had an opportunity to visit the MF tractor factory At Beauvais in France whilst on holiday last September. Having been in contact with the manager of the Visitor Centre previously we were thrilled that he showed just the two of us around the tractor assembly plant and the nearby cab factory.
It was like being in heaven!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Surrounded by MFs as they came together from literally bits and pieces. We are concerned about safety here when we jack a tractor up but to see a line of just about the biggest tractors made at Beauvais 'hanging' on their conveyor line was a sight not to be missed.
All in all a wonderful 3 hours and I would urge anyone who has the opportunity to take a trip around any factory to do so.

Thank you for the update on your plant tour! This summer after spring fieldwork my wife and I plan to take our boys there. Sounds like an awesome time......glad you enjoyed your trip!
Out of curiosity did they by chance have a gift shop to purchase MF merchandise? Ty

Glad to hear everything is top notch since I have a new M.F. combine on order to be built next summer. I went for the tour three years ago when I traded last time. It is impressive

Brian, how do you like your MF combines? What model u currently running?
Our last MF combine was a 760 and because of that machine we have been green ever sense! We are currently running a 2014 JD S670 and up until now have been very pleased with our John Deere machines. Our new last year S670 has been very problematic.....Deere mechanics were out about every other day to correct problems and some weren't solved til after harvest/this winter! Luckily we could keep running and the problems didn't shut us down totally! Our local mechanics had mother Deere stumped even!
Massey combines look a lot simpler in design but my concern is green stem beans......can it hold up to a Deere!? Deeres are green stem eating machines! Wish Agco would make the cabs alittle nicer on the Massey's.....Deere has a nicer cab interior.
U had any problems with your Massey's? Thanks

Yes, a nice small gift shop, caps, hats, hoodies, sweaters, maybe some toys, I forget. etc.
Did not have decals, emblems, which is what I wanted.
They had to go get the gal to open it up, she was found and came, and they do not take cash, only credit cards or maybe checks... I think. But no cash.

Sounds great.....thanks for the follow up!

I currently have a 9540 . It has had several updates done to it since it was a new model but has been very dependable and eats up green stem beans. All the deere boys around me are having lots of issues here too. The Massey is so simple with engine mounted inline with rotor for direct drive without power robbing gearboxes maybe that is why it is so good on fuel. I am getting a 9545 which has a few more refinements.

Thanks for the info! Thinking next time I'll be demoing a new Massey!

I;ll tell you, guys, after you see how heavy-duty the combines are built, the truly excellent welding, the top-notch paint jobs, with every part vented on top and dipped in primer / paint, how thick all the steel is, how cost-effective the robots must be, how professional the plant is run, you'll really be impressed.
