A few weeks ago I decided to replace the pivot bushings on my '57 MF 50 and asked for input. My thanks to ptfarmer and Brendon Warren for suggestions. Using your ideas, I added a little of my own. The front bushing was replaced with a new one. The rear housing was worn and rather than mill it out I built up a piece of exhaust pipe to fill the space and shaped it on a belt sander for a good fit. I drilled the grease hole and stuck it in place with JB (not Jim Beam)Weld. Seems to be working fine.Sure doesn't rattle like before. Thanks guys.

I never understood why Ferguson did not install grease zerks on the front axle pivot.

Even my little riding mower has a grease zerk on the front axle pivot point.

I installed new bushings on my tractors axle pivot but did not install a grease zerk, therefore mine makes a squeaking sound from time to time.

I keep spray graphite in the shop, when the bearing squeaks, it gets a soaking with graphite, it's quiet for a long while.

Wonder if manufacturers original lube was to be a shot of graphite as I think their idea was grease would collect dirt and that would grind out the bearing, who knows.

If I had known the bearing would have last that long 1957 model, I would have lubed it more often.
