Hi, I am more at home on the JD board, but I am sniffing on a MH 44 and would like to know where to look for the serial # plate so I can get an idea of this tractors age.
I thank you in advance, and look forward to being a Massey owner.

it an aluminum oval plate on the left rear of the tub frame.

If the plate is missing look to the right of and back a little from the clutch pedal on top of the trans case, it will be stamped in there covered with paint and dirt. On most of them behind the clutch pedal under the platform will be a casting date on the rear end housing, that will get you close.

Thanks for all your replies. I'll scope it out tomorrow. This was my neighbor's tractor, he was in a rollover accident last April and was paralyzed from his chest down. He fought one infection after another till it finally got where the antibiotics couldn't control it and he passed away. I saw his wife at the post office today and asked if she had thought what to do with Tom's tractor. She told me that he wanted her to offer it to me first. She hasn't decided yet what to ask, but I want to be ready.
That sounded bad. He passed away a little over a month ago.
