Would like to get some advice from someone who has taken one of these apart. My IT shop manual says remove pinion and sun gears, then loosen retainer with a sharp chisel, then remove slit ring, and press apart. Can I reuse retainer? Says to heat to 500 degrees for installation. When I put the retainer # in on a parts search! it calls it a bushing. Help me please.
Thanks

Yes, the two ring retainer bushing # 190 656 M1 must be replaced each time since it's a shrink fit. The chizel will expand the old one to get it off and will not hold tight if reused.

Ok thanks for that, so I would heat the new one up, say In a oven and then install it over the two retainers and just let it cool down?

Ok thank you for that, I have ordered the $100 dollar part. WOW!
And will give it an attempt, it's nice to get advice from someone that knows.
Thanks again

So I took it to a repair shop were they had a press, and couldn't get it apart with some heat and 1800 lbs of pressure. I wouldn't let them press harder. They had the drive cover on the press and were pushing were the sun gear sits, which is on the splined shaft, was that correct? Any advice for me?
