165 power steering cylinder

took my power steering cylinder off today to rebuild leaking very bad only to find cylinder shaft broke around pin hole. My question is i can seem only find the UK cylinders online where can i find replacement for my tractor serial#9A184949 agco parts books calls for two different #s. 505525M91 & 505339M92. yet both take same rebuild kit. replacement cylinder rod is over $200.00 kit has already cost me $66.00

According to the notes at the top of Agco's parts book for the 165, The 505525M91 cylinder was used only on the dual tricycle front end tractors. The 505339M92 cylinder was used on all other standard and row crop models.
 
i understand what you are saying but my cylinder looks exactly the same as the one for the tricycle & my tractor is a wide front i don t know maybe David P can help
 
Perhaps someone changed the cylinder out with one from a tricycle front at some time. I would suggest taking the cylinder along with your series # to a Massey dealer parts department and have them help you figure it out. Also, from what I was able to determine, the piston and rod for the tricycle cylinder is no longer available from Massey. Your Massey dealer can check this for you.

Sorry can't help you with the numbers. Your American numbers don't correspond to the UK ones.
If you can post a photo and dimensions of the rod I might be able to identify it if it is the same as a UK one.

thanks for your input. i think you are right though will probably have to see my dealer. Bought tractor new in 1974 to the best of my knowledge cylinder has been rebuilt several times but not replaced. also i don t understand why one can find steering cylinders all day long for the UK series but not the American series
 

I am having the same issue Finding a New cylinder for my 165 .. they are every where for the 165 UK did you ever get your resolved and if so what did you use ?? Thanks Scott
