Direct or Indirect Injection

We have a 65 Massey Perkins 4 cyl diesel. Wondering how we can tell if it has a direct or indirect injection system on it. This one has no glow plugs but has a pre heating system that still works by the way. Thanks

Nice!

I was going to buy one like that from a neighbor until I pulled the drain plugs on the planetaries (water, and very rusty brown gear oil in them) killed that deal. He got some fresh gear oil in them for free.

Thanks guys for the replies, we figure we have the direct injection. Having a problem posting a pic here but there is one in the "Tractor Photos".

Brendon, thanks for the reply on the injectors. Just wondering if any of your Masseys have t he dish steering wheel, or do they all have the flat one?

The late MF 65 have the deep dish steering wheel, the foot boards are higher and a new style seat is used. They are made for operator to set up a little higher on the tractor. I don't know the serial number breaks.

The dish steering wheel is was used after serial # 692932 (part # 192432M2).
This can also be used It's inch shorter, or in place of (part # 1894488M1).

Brendon, you weren't supposed to study that pic that close lol, yes we had to make a small alteration to the hood but you are the first person who has ever noticed it. Got a question, your two 65's with the dish steering wheel . . . do they both have direct inject and do those two start easy?

I only figured the hood got in the way because a
neighbor had one with a cab and they cut the hood.
They gave me the cab when they removed it but I've
never put it on anything. Three out of four of my
diesels start excellent. One of the three is
indirect and it starts great. The other is indirect
and doesn't start well at all. I haven't had it long
so I have no frame of reference. It needs either if
its warm. I'm not sure if its a fuel problem or a
compression problem. Does yours not start well?

We live up in Canada and our 65 starts real good. If it is below freezing, then we usually plug it in, it has the high output block heater in it so it only takes about 10 minutes.
