I got the challenger running. The problem that I
have is when it is not under a load is that it pops
and backfires, but when I pull it hard it clears up.
Any ideas? Thanks for any help.

Most likely trash in gas, might try a aux gas tank.

4 special , Check the timing first . Timing marks on crank pulley should be 7 1/4- 8" from left side of frame, second check the valve clearances . i set mine at 18 thou. Dennis
