Just bought a Landini 7830. According to Tractor Data it's the same tractor as Massey 284S. Has anyone had any experience with these Italian Massey's.

Hi I fix a Ghibli 90 and a Mythos 110 for 2
customers. I think the best days of these 2 was
when they were new. they both have 5000 ish
ours on.
The ghibli has been beat to death and is now
apart for $6000 of front hub work and had many
other problems only to be expected, with abuse.

The Mythos has been looked after/ treated
right, but has had as many oil leaks as a
Belarus. and is coming in for front hub seals
next week. Landini cut costs on hose quality
and wireing from some issues I see with these
2.
seems some parts can be crossed to Massey but
others are unique to landini from research we
did here with both dealers and part numbers,
Massey can't supply some. or are obsolete from
Landini on some things to.
I find in Canada some parts are very
expensive, some is not in stock and we have to
wait a while.
My friends buddy runs them from new to 4-5
years old and trades them before mega issues,
his don't work real hard as he has 4 and they
trade in sequence.

It maybe the older less complicated ones are
better for reliability the Mythos has expensive
soleniods for the hyds. I don't go back past
2000 here though.
Some of them are just old outdated MF
technology and parts from 6 different models
put together, with a landini twist thrown in. I
think some of the 90 might be from the 284 MF.
the dealer did tell me one day, but not %100
sure it was a while ago.
I won't run one here I have enough problems
with these 2, to keep me busy.
But not saying they are all the same. Run it
if you like it,see if parts are available and
not expensive if not get out of it before you
have to burn it for insurance. oh Landini love
to use translations from Italian to English.
you might find sensors called bulbs! and from
what I found the parts books aren't online like
Massey, and it can take hours to figure it out
for some parts, looking at the dealer computer
or books.
It is what it is basically, you'll ether love
it or hate it.
regards Robert

Landinis used to make tractor cabs for The Massey
600 series tractors, they were utterly rubbish.
they rot away in no time at all.

The 174-4 254 274 294 etc MF were built by Landini, who had an interest in Landini for a bit.

The 30 and 60 series, and later Evolution 65 series were basic mechanical tractors, the newer plastic stuff sounds as Robert describes.

i did a search on Landini on this site before purchase and all was good with them. Massey owned Landini from 1959 to 1999. Now they are owned by ARGO who makes McCormick tractors. From what I can find the only difference is the paint color. Too late to change mind now deal is done. Bought tractor to make hay around 75 acres a yr hope it holds up.

I have had a 294-4 for several years. Defiantly an off breed
tractor in my area. The only one of the series I have found. I do
not use it every day. It has 6000 hrs and as far as I can tell is
still going strong. Few minor problems as can be expected with
a tractor of this age. Has a weird drive setup for the separate
loader pump but the loader will lift all you put on it and bring the
rear end off the ground with fluid in the tires. Very strong loader
and pump. Would have liked to had a green one but for the
money it has been hard to beat. I have the service manual but it
is really poor. I hope to take the pan off this summer and
replace the rod and main bearings.

The tractor pictured falls into the "mechanical non plastic" Landini. I don't think you'll regret that purchase. 2wd somewhat uncommon "here" as most Landini's were 4wd. Dealer did have a late 6860 2wd (in red!) on the lot for a couple years back in the day.

Thought the "S" meant made in Turkey, by Uzel Motors. It doesnt' matter, but that's what I thought.
