I need to fix a very small leak from the bottom fitting of my gas tank. The fitting was originally welded and I am not sure where the leak is coming from. I haven’t taken the tank out yet. Without welding, what is the best option for fixing this leak? I am thinking JB Weld, but maybe you guys know a better way. BTW if welding is the only option, I am not thinking about doing it myself… radiator shop here I go!

A easy was to find to find the leak after you pull, and drain tank it to get some acetone, and some of powdered chalk used for chalk lines. Mix a little batch of acetone, and powdered chalk then paint it with a brush around where the leak could be, and let it dry. After that put a little bit of liquid in the tank, and work it around inside the tank. The chalk when dries turns light color, then when the liquid seeps through where the leak is the chalk will turn dark in color, and there is your leak.

Excellent tip! Thank you very much.
