squeling relief valve noise

I just put on a davis 101a loader on my 135 orchard , It has a rebuilt davis vane pump ,all the cylinders were went through, all new hoses.T he old filter housing was shot ,so a put on a filter from northern supply. The loader works well, but makes a horriable squeling noise like when you turn power steering to the stops.this noise is worse at idle and not as bad at full throttle.I suspect a relief valve squalling but don't know where to look. The loader still has the orininal control vales on it.Any insights? Thanks Chuck k.

I assume you are driving the pump off the front pulley. Where is your reservoir? Where is your filter located in relation to the pump. How do you have the pressure line from the pump to the valve and how the return line plumbed back to the reservoir? Should be run as an open center system, free flow from pump, through valve back to reservoir. Post some pictures.

Re-read your post, is the squealing happening with the hydraulic lever in the neutral position or when you operate the loader? What size hoses are you using? You said they were all new, right?

The squeel only happens when I fully pull back the valve levers if I only pull the levers half way the system is pretty quiet.I used all the same size hoses as the davis manual said needed to be there.I did dent up the filter a bit when installing it .I'am going to try a new filter and see if that helps. Thanks for the responces so far Chuck K.

Sounds like the relief valve is set too low. Install a pressure gage tee'd into a line to either the lift cylinder or the tilt circuit and read the pressure when the cylinder is fully extended when the lever pushed or pulled to the maximum. It should be at least 1200 to 2300 psi.

By chance, when pulling back on the lever, are you lowering the lift arms? If so, do you have single acting cylinders or double acting cylinders on the lift?
