mf65 control of rear backblade

Can you control the depth of backblade so you dont scrape gravel when snow plowing-be nice if you could go to 1/2" from gravel?

What I've see some inventive individuals do is take
industrial plastic pipe, cut a groove it's entire
length and slip it over the cutting edge. It rides
on the gravel, but slides over so as not to scrape
away the gravel. Good Lck!

There should be two levers to the right/rear of the seat. The
outboard lever is draft control for ground engagement
equipment, plow or ripper and such.

The inboard lever is your three-point position control. There
should be movable stops, to return the lever/blade to desired
position.

RKH,
even when you get the blade set to ride about 1/2" above the ground,
when your front wheel come to a slight rise in the the road the blade will still dip into the ground.

the only way to ready do a good job is to add some type of rear trail depth gauge wheel to the back of the blade.
it would not have to be as fancy as the one in this picture but you get the idea of how it would work.

ferguson made one for their old grader blades back in the 40's and 50's, but I could not find a picture of one tonight.

No amount of messing about with the hydraulic
controls will achieve a satisfactory result. The
blade needs to follow the exact contours of the
ground. You need something behind the blade
like a depth wheel or skids for it to run on. This
is what I have on the blade on my Grillo walk
behind tractor for example :

Putting on "skid shoes" are about the best way. You can make your own, or get some from commercial snow plow parts and mount them up. Another trick is to lengthen the top link when pushing back: the closer the cutting edge is to vertical, the less it will cut. If you adjust it slightly 'behind' the direction of travel, it will ride up and over just about everything, including heavy snow.
