Massey part NLA

I am having my Perkins AD4-203 engine majored and the machine shop called to say camshaft needed to be replaced. Shop could not find one available so I called my dealer and was told "NLA". This seems odd to me as this part was also used in the 165 as well, and maybe newer engines also. Found one online from a supplier but priced at $730. Whaaaat? Wengers in PA had a used one so I have that one on the way. This has been one of the few parts not available from Massey I needed, but seems it should be. Thanks Dennis.

Since the advent of Perkapillar the parts have gotten expensive and scarce for the older Perkins engines.

Totally agree. I had a perk 3 pot here in a forklift for a customer. It had been swapped in from a newer tractor. I needed a motor kit and other parts for it.
My local MF dealer wanted nothing to do with the rebuild kit/ crank. I had all the numbers and build plates to for it,they just didn't want to even look for parts.
In the end they did manage to find one part I couldn't get jobber else where, but it was expensive and took a month to get!.

so what it would be like getting parts for anything else massey with a perk motor now i don't know !
Regards Robert

Hi, yes it might be partly due to Perkins but the 203 is still quite popular in the UK at least. They are still readily available and in stock with 2 non-genuine parts suppliers at a price of around £100 or $155.

Doesn't surprise me that your part is NLA......lots of the older stuff is getting all ate up and once supply is gone it's gone for good!
Did your dealer try putting it on the locator?
Did he try the depot parts......I've found alot of discontinued parts from depot parts. If you have a part number you can go on their website and search available inventory.

If you have a problem locating a part for a Massey Ferguson in the U.S. call AGCO Answers 1(877)-525-4384

They helped me find a seal for my 2135 industrial tractor that I thought I was going to never be able to find (it was either that or take it apart, take some measurements, and let it sit useless while I try to find the right seal).

BTW: On the seal I needed the part number was changed, but the AGCO parts lookup didn't have the new part number.
