MF135 ENGINE SWAP

Assuming that I have an engine with a rope type seal in place now, can I install an engine with a lip type seal with no complications and the flywheel-clutch fit OK. any input appreciated
TIA fred

I've never done a rope, to lip seal engine change. According to AGCO the part numbers for the block, crankshaft, the front cover that bolts to the block, and the injector pump have different part numbers between the rope, and lip seal engines. The front engine cover that blots to the block cover has the same part number along with the flywheel. Unless they changed where some of the bolts for the front cover goes I don't see any real big difference between the covers, and injector pumps. They both have the same part numbers for the oil pan, and head.

Thanks for your input ptfarmer, I have done so
much comparing that I feel crosseyed. The best
info was on AGCO part book for MF235, they show
both crankshafts on the same page and the crank
and all the parts on the backend of the engine
are different, but will they interchange as a
whole package??? Hopefully someone who has been
there and done that will chime in. thanks fred

The way I read the question, you have a good arsend of a tractor, and you want to put a more modern engine onto it?

Answer's yes. They will all bolt up solid. The Flywheel to clutch pack will probably be OK too, as long as the face of the flywheels are both single or both dual clutch. I believe there were 3 versions of flywheel faces. They won't all bolt to your crankshaft- a matter of the make or age/generation- of engine, not the tranny. But that's where a hang up will be if anything at all. Sometimes you swap flywheels, and the starter teeth don't mesh- Perkins vs Continental vs Standard diesel vs Standard petrol... wow huh?
.. Good luck.
