So.. I'm going to look at a 40B. Tractor data lists one with a backhoe and loader. This one has neither but does have a pushblade. It has 3pt hitch and remotes. Also says it has a 203 engine live PTO. Seller says it has the shuttle reverser. So would this be one that the PTO turns backwards in reverse? Would it be like a 265 but industrial? Any bad I should be leary of or should pay special attention to? Thanks in advance.
 
The 40B if it has the manual shuttle the pto shouldn't turn backwards. The ones with the torque convertor with the shuttle pedals I believe are the ones that will reverse the pto in reverse.
 
Mine is a 6 speed, 3 high and 3 low with a shuttle shift. Pto does not turn backwards in reverse. Too bad it's sold. Fuel efficient handy little tractors. Can put alot of money into a wore out industrial front end though. Found that out the hard way. I think they're the industrial version of a 245 or early 255. The later 255 had a 236 Perkins in it if I remember correctly.
