I split her today to check the pump on the MP. Its
good. Found a hole in the pressure line. I'm going
to check the discs in the MP as long as I'm this
far. Looks like I need to split it at the clutch as
well AGAIN. Any advice? Where's Sam?

Multi-power pump should have come up out of the top of these older Masseys without splitting the tractor...but you have to do a double split to get to the clutch hub.....and strip the gearbox almost entirely!!!!! Good luck!

Sam's right, transmission must be completely out to remove the MP clutch as the input shaft comes out the rear while the PTO input shaft and retainer come out the front. The 65 dieselmatic I sold my brother I used the clutch drive plates from MF 1100 series PTO clutch as they are heavier material. Most MP clutch damage is from low oil level, at least that's what I saw at the MF dealer I worked for.

If any discs need replacing they will be warped or blued with heat from slipping....I would be inclined to replace them all when in there. Check the front input bearings also as they can wear out if the tractor is used a lot in low range.

I bought mine piecemeal end ended up with the same price. I replaced all the internals on my MP pack. Plates were warped and clutches chunked out in areas. Two plates looked like belville springs. It still worked tough.

Check the input housing as well.

Yep discs are obviously tore up and warped. I've got
a kit coming for 140 bucks. New sealing rings new
pilot bearing, the old one shed its needles like a
Christmas tree. New bushings in the clutch and brake
shafts as long as I'm at it. Massey is pretty proud
of its pressure line 120 bucks. I'm going to see
about having one made. Mine has a pretty good slice
in it. Parts are supposed to be in for Thursday. I
did get to use my new lift. It worked slick. Plucked
the tranny right out and could lift it right up eye
level to work. I'll keep you posted. Thanks.
