Can someone please help me ,
I have a 1986 mf240s perkins 3 cylinder diesel,
when i turn the key nothing happens! no click no nothing... battery is good. I don't have wiring diagram ....what could it be....
thank you :?:

Place the Low/high gear shift(right side-small) in the "S" position for starting. Close the fuel shutoff. Hit the starter switch. No start? MAKE SURE IT'S OUT OF GEAR. Get a clean screwdriver, short the big cable to the small one on the solenoid on top of the starter, engine should start and run. No start? Your solenoid 'could' be bad OR the starter is out. The wiring to the neutral safety switch could be open but using a screwdriver bypasses that, key switch could also be out. You don't need a key to start that diesel so long as it's out of gear :) Good Luck!

I'd check the neutral safety switch. MAKE SURE its
in neutral and try shorting solenoid to the battery
and see if it rolls over for you then.

Thank you all for the help i will try ....it seems to be intermitent it happened 2 or 3 times before but after a few tries it just fitted up.

That's what my 245 did before the solenoid died, no click, no nothing. I repaired the solenoid without replacing it, been working for over 6 years. Let us know what you find.

On my 240-S, there's three safety switches; Both transmission shift levers must be in neutral, and the rear PTO selector switch be in the neutral mid-position, and both little wires that hang out there, and connect to the PTO safety switch must be intact, and plugged on, and not damaged. Found that out the long tiresome way.

Thanks everyone ...i finally got to playing with it and after playing with ignition key it started right up.....still not sure whats causing it!!!
After shutting it down a few times it started every time.
