1950s Massey Ferguson --need advice and info.

I'm new to tractors and looking at this old
beauty that has been sitting in a barn for over
15 years. While the spray paint is peeling off,
underneath looks like the original grey paint
is still there with minimal rust. Everything is
intact, straight and it starts right up! Runs
with no smoke. PTO appears to spin. Not sure if
the lift works yet.
I took the following serial numbers off the
engine and other areas of the tractor.
TO-3557
TO- 7006
2120-101766
They are asking $1250. I think that is a good
price.
I'd like to know what year it actually is, What
it is.
IS it the the mustang 23? or the TO-20 built in
1948-49??? I posted a pic.
Any ideas?. Suggestions for what to check for,
where to find parts if needed. I'm going to use
it on a demonstration farm project. Will be
disking, plowing, harrowing, scraping with it.
Yes I am a woman too... that happens to like
old tractors. LOL!!

If it starts, runs and drives as well as you say, I think the price is in the ball park. New tires may be your biggest expense if needed, but the hydraulic system could also cost if it needs repair. I would guess its a T0- 35 or similar based on your description. Good Luck! Ben

I doubt it's a MH 23 Mustang as they were red, and had a flathead engine. If the oil filter is in the oil pan it's a TO-20 sounds like. TO-30 had the oil filter on the block side under the carb.

Bonjour poulet. Is the first number off the tag on the dash? then it's a 1950 TO20? the 2nd # it then would be a '52 TO30. Massey Harris -ttbomk, never used the 'TO' tag, not until 1958 MHF tags or so. On classic view you will see 'serial numbers' on the left column. But only the number on the dash tag will be it. The other might be a casting code you are looking at.
Yea, YT will not post your pictures until you start or ad to a post on here a couple times, to make sure you are a real tractor related human I suppose. There are a ton of pictures on 'photo gallery' on the left column too. On the bar above is 'Ferguson'. The forum for earlier models, check that out too, my bet is your tractor is one of those, and the guys there are a ton of help- beinvenie la fergie rond!

Ok thanks everyone. So I looked at the plate by the steering wheel and it is TO-764.
So based on that it looks like a 1948 TO-20???
Its grey with red wheels.
So my question to you all is what is a fair price for this.
It runs great! No smoke. Metal is perfect, minimal rust under the spray paint with the grey paint underneth. Been garaged for years. No idea about the hydraulic lift but the PTO spins. Great tire condition. I'm going to try to post the photo again. I can't get it to post. How do I do that?

Holy cow. is that the geared steering? That everyone with a loader wishes for?
Yep, a neat original TO20. The oil filter is up the funnel shaped oilpan, and the dash is a hint, so not a 30 or TE, But the tires look fine and that steering wheel take the cake! 1200? maybe less? It runs rolls and seems to be all there? Sounds fair to me. At one time I wouldn't have said that, but times change, attitudes and experiences change, so if is mechanically sound, try to make a deal or just pay the man!

That's not a bad price for a running tractor with what looks like good rear tires. I paid $1500 for a MF 2135 that wasn't running (but it had almost brand new tires all the way around).

Here is a few more photos of the one I am
looking at. Can you tell me more?.
Should/could I get a loader from anther one in
Wilton that is for sale but in bad shape? See
below

There is another one here in town with the
loader. The loader is that cool curved arch
with the bucket. The serial on it is TO-32U605.
Maybe thats a TO-30. But it has hydraulic
issues, and other mechanics and has been left
outside. Too much repairs for me.

Ideas?

Well now you got YT to take in your photos, take some of that loader, and hey put this post on the other forum too. Yep that steering system is the cat's pajama's.... a good power washing might be in order too, weather permitting of course...

I'd be careful bolting down those 3-point arm,s likely to bust something important when you inadvertently try to raise them.

Thanks Dieseltech about the oil filter being under the carb on TO-30, i'm learning something around here, seems like ours. Still need help on what our tractor year may be and also the motor, this is my first tractor so please bare with me everyone.
