All right, I have taken my lift cover off and found the problem. The connecting rod that connects to the hyd cylinder is broken off the back side off the cylinder. Havent taken it down anymore. I will start the repair tommorrow.

[Actually, I was wondering about the ram arm and the piston. My manual does not say if the ram rod is supposed to be connected to the back side of the piston or not? I am assuming it does but not sure. The piston might be jammed into the house and or broke rings. Either way i am taking it aprt tommorrow and inspecting further.

The rod does not connect to the piston, it will be loose at times. The piston pushes on the rod to lift the arms when the pump valve is in the lift position.

I got it now! Well then, I might have pump problem, because everything looks to be in order. Is there a way to check the pumps for pressure and such with the cover off?

(quoted from post at 11:53:31 10/27/14) Not that I know of, lift cover was always in place in service school hydraulic system testing.
I am probally just going to rebuild the pumps anyway. They probally need it, this tractor is a 68 model I think.

Yes, you are correct. Trying to connect a high pressure pipe to the outlet on the pump would be very dangerous. There is no MF tool to do this. The nearest is a pipe and bracket using one of the side cover bolt holes with a bent pipe inserted in the pump. This is used on later tractors ONLY to check the flow rate to fill a gallon measure.

I took the piston and cylnder off this morning and found a rather large and deep set of scratches on the both off them. So bad I could see bubbles coming from the scratches as I was taking the piston out. The hyd oil was nearly jet black also! Looks like it has the newer hyd pump installed. I know that the muili power is not working and it feels like the tractor lags when pulling and going up a hill. So Im not sure but I think I have several different problems to fix. The clutch may be out of adjustment.
