splitting MH 30

I've been running my recently acquired MH 30. It started to have a knock in the transmission... with advice from here I figured it was a missing tooth... now it is making more noise-- sounds like a coffee grinder-- coming from left side of transmission hosing. It could be brakes, I guess, but I suspect it is the clutch... So, how hard is it to split this tractor? The engine runs great and it has plenty of power.. always starts right up. Haven't split a tractor before but ready to learn...

HI,
My suggestion is to try figure out the problem first. Is there a inspection plate under the tractor for the clutch to try and do a visual inspection? Anyway to look at the gears in tranny?
Splitting the tractor, smooth concrete floor is best. Floor jack, some type of support for the back half, needs to be sturdy ( crib from blocking, etc etc). Manual, parts book be nice. Tools, may end using some specialty tools. When pinning the tractor together it is best to use some type of guide bars.
I use a 2 ton engine hoist, floor jack, and I have a homemade steel adjustable stand for the back half when I split a tractor.

I am still trying to figure out how/why you are going to "split" a MH30. I don't own one so I may not have all the details, but from pictures on the InterWeb, they appear to be full frame tractors like the bigger Masseys. "Splitting" the tractor will do nothing but remove the front frame from the transmission/rearend. I don't see how this will allow you to get to the clutch OR transmission. I would think that you would need to remove the top cover, shifter housing, and/or PTO drive housing to get into the tranny...?
