Hopefully some of you can help me figure this oil leak issue out that I am having. I have a 1963 MF50 with the 3 cylinder perkins diesel. I noticed while plowing the other day when the tractor was leaning to the left it had a pretty good amount of oil leaking from somewhere near the head. I cleaned everything off today and removed the sheet metal. To the front, middle and rear of the exhaust manifold there are three triangular shaped plates held in with three studs. It appeared the oil was leaking from the front one. When I removed it, it appeared to be some kind of blocking plate with a brass o-ring behind it. What has me confused is that it looks like it is covering an exhaust port. If that is correct why is oil even in that part of the head? I cleaned it up and put it back on. When I started the tractor sure enough, oil leaked out of the bottom of it. Am I wrong? Do I just need to replace that brass o-ring or do I maybe have a bad set of rings and am getting oil blow by?
