MF 290 Fuel Bleeding Issue (Part Deux)

Okay gentlemen I need your help here. Awhile back I changed the fuel filter with a NAPA filter, tightened it up, and went to bleed the lines. After repeated efforts, replacing the lift pump, making sure my protocols were accurate, I still cannot get this thing started. Before I replaced the filter there was no issue at all. What is going on!?!?!?!?!

Take the filter back off and make sure there is NO O ring in the fuel inlet groove at the outer top edge. Have made several service calls to correct this common problem. NAPA/WIX filter fuel flow is different than the CAV filter. Worth a look.

Well Dieseltech check out the pictures of the filters in my possession. Unfortunately I don't have the original filter as idiot here threw it away. This is the Napa filter.

That filter will be fine IF there is NO O ring in the top fuel inlet groove as mentioned before. Photo is not real clear but it looks like there IS one in there now.

The Napa indeed has the O-Ring. The Wix in the wrapper has an o-ring to insert but I assume if I leave it out all should be good? No fuel leakage will occur?

The filter top is sealed with the O ring in the BASE groove, NOT the fuel inlet groove at the filter top. Fuel flow is down through the outside edge and clean fuel comes up through the center hole of the filter. I get calls for this mistake several times a year.

Well Dieseltech you were right for certain man. I am now getting flow through all the bleed locations and I actually had it running for about ten seconds then it merely shut down. I kept attempting to get it going but no luck. I am recharging my batteries and will attempt to re-bleed again tomorrow night and go after it once more.
