backhoe front hyd pump shaft removal question

Does any one know how the front mounted pump shaft for a Massey 3165 comes apart at the crankshaft?

[The fan belt is worn out/fell apart]

It’s the front hydraulic pump shaft set up used for a 200 MF loader.

My shaft has 4 bolts that connect a plate to the front crankshaft pulley then the shaft that is about 15” long goes into the front mounted hyd pump.

I can not get the shaft loose at the mounting plate at the crank pulley. I thought it was splinned but the picture in the model 200 MF loader manual appears to be threaded. I have tried with NO luck of getting it apart.

So does anyone know which way you need to turn this thing to get it loose?

I’ve tried going both directions. There’s NO room to get a good grip on the shaft.

So My hope is I can get a little more aggressive if I know the proper way to turn the shaft

Hi, It is threaded, though is LH thread. They are
usually "stuck" There is a tool for this to use
a impact wrench if a dealer close. Or find a bolt
hex head or spline that fits in the shaft(outer
end)and weld a large bolt or nut that you can use
an impact wrench to impact it off (remember LH.)

Also just happened to think: I believe you can
still buy "sectional" belting so that would be
another alternative. Chuck

Chuck, Thank you for your reply. I thought it was left hand thread but it seemed very tight.

I figured there was a tool but sadly I don't have a dealer close.

The one concern I have with using an impact is damaging the old spline.

I am finding parts are like hens teeth.

Chuck thanks again!!!!!

You maybe able to unbolt the hydraulic pump, unbolt the hub from the pulley, if there is enough hose going in, and out of the pump you make able to move the pump, and drive forward enough to sneak a new v-belt between the pulley, and drive hub. Just don't pry against the front pulley of the engine because it probably a casting (don't want to break that). On some you may have to unhook the hoses from the pump, and drain the oil out to be able to move the pump out of the way enough.

I tried that and there wasnt enough room to replace the belt. Seems that Massey built the tractor around the pump shaft.

Another alternative would be to loosen the front support, and slide it forward enough to get a belt in. The FEL, and other stuff would make it a ton of work.

Hi, I had the same problem on my Case 480CK. No luck in removing the shaft, and it was a major pain to try to get to it. I spent a few hours on it and then went out and bought a link belt at Harbor Freight for $15 and installed it on the pulley system. Took about 4 minutes. I linked it together and it has worked fine now for 3 years. Doesn't slip, vibrate or loosen at all. I would try that if you can't get the shaft off.

PS - they sell them on the internet, ebay, etc. I needed a 5' section.

I tried everything I could do to get things loose with No luck.

My tractor is a loader backhoe so loosing things up and sliding things around is out of the question.

So I'm going to get one of those link belts and hope I have the same luck as you.

Thanks

i have the same loader and once u get it off u can make a tool with a long bolt that will fit in the coupling in front . you have to remove the pump at least move it if you have enough slack in the hoses.cut a keyway in the bolt insert it in the coupling then you can put a wrench on the bolt. i would say to try to take it off this way but it is so far away from the thread the impact gun sounds better unless you take the whole case apart. I had my case apart so i installed it with anti-sieze it will come off with a wrench and bolt
