MF 65 front end - Part 2

So many arguments in the original thread I decided to start a new one. :D

We got the 65 apart this past Sunday. Am hunting for parts now.

I think I found the 2 bushings I need on this website:

http://www.yesterdaystractors.com/Massey-Ferguson-65_Spindle-Bushing_196060M1.html

and:

http://www.yesterdaystractors.com/Massey-Ferguson-65_Bushing-Front-Axle-Pivot_196049M1.html

Are these the correct ones? The site doesn't show where they go on the tractor.

Also - There's some slop in one of the steering pieces at the blue arrow in this drawing:

I think this is the part indicated by the red arrow in the drawing:

If it is, how does it connect to the part indicated by the yellow arrow?

BTW - In my picture above note the worn out bushing from the rear pivot. It's sitting on the casting to the right of the red arrow.

You have this one right (inner tie rod end) http://www.yesterdaystractors.com/Massey-Ferguson-65_Tie-Rod-End-Inner-Right-Hand_182519M91.html

You need this bushing for the front pivot http://www.yesterdaystractors.com/196049M1_Bushing-Front-Axle-Pivot_19371.htm

And this bushing for the rear pivot http://www.yesterdaystractors.com/196050M1_Axle-Pivot-Bushing-Rear_20513.htm

This first bushing you have on your list http://www.yesterdaystractors.com/Massey-Ferguson-65_Spindle-Bushing_196060M1.html is the bushings that the spindles pivot on (for turning).

Good to see you got it apart, how is the bore in the rear pivot where the rear bushing goes? Is it worn, or is it still round?

Good job getting it apart. The tie-rod (red arrow) screws into
the pit man arm (yellow arrow) at the blue arrow. However it
looks like you would have to cut off at the blue arrow to get a
pipe wrench on it to back it out. There is a ball, like on tie-rod
ends that wear and spin free inside the housing.

You might get away with a little slop in that joint, however
now is the time to replace it. If the slop is excessive it may
affect power steering (chasing) if your unit has it.

:) OK, that's my suggestion, and I'm sticking to it :)

There is hex (at the blue arrow) hiding under the rubber boot so you can put a wrench on it. The pitman arm has taper in it, then it's threaded, it's a unique piece of engineering. On my brothers 150 row crop, that ball wasn't too sloppy when it came out while I was disking a field.

Thanks for the info guys.

The power steering doesn't work very well. Sometimes the front wheels kind of vibrate back & forth a bit. Maybe replacing the tie rod end would help that.

PTfarmer - I'm curious - The rear bushing you linked to says it fits an F 40 or MH 50. It doesn't mention an MF 65. Did you get that out of a parts book or something, and it's just listed wrong on this site?

This is the AGCO part number 196050M2 for the rear pivot bushing on the 65, and that's the bushing YT pulls up. It does fit other model MF's also.

Drove 30 miles to a dealer today and ordered the parts.

The tractor is 120 miles away, and I won't be down at the farm again until the 11th. Will let you know how it goes.

Thanks again for all the help.
