MF 255 not a 265 hydraulic question

Well friends I thought the tractor was a 265 but after going back I see it is a 255. It did not have the lever as pt farmer described. I changed the hydraulic filter. It actually looked pretty good considering I have no way to know how long it has been since being changed. Lift still not raising. Now I discovered that the pto is not working. I moved the pto lever back and forth an one time it did start turning and the lift came up about 6 inches. Then back to no workie. What say yee?? Thanks in advance!

There really isn't too much difference between a 255, and 265. To engage the pto do you have to push the clutch pedal down (live pto)?, or just move the lever to engage the pto without using the clutch (independent pto)?

Thanks pt. I do not know if the pto is independent or not. I did try both with the clutch and without. No difference. I guess it needs to go to the tractor hospital. Thanks again !!

Sounds like it has independent pto, independent pto uses the hydraulics to engage the pto. If it had live pto you would hear gears grind if you tried to engage the pto without depressing the clutch pedal.
