265 MF hydraulic question

I need some help please. My Pastor has had surgery and out of pocket so I have been doing a few things for him. I am not a mechanic but I can turn a wrench. He had been using his MF 265 on the bush hog when the solenoid on the starter went out. I fixed the starter. Now the 3 point lift will not raise. I know nothing about Massey's other than they are red & silver. Yes, it is full of fluid and no, I have not yet changed the hydraulic filter. Could some one give me a few pointers as where to start looking???

Underneath the seat is there a short lever coming out of a small block that bolted down with a couple of bolts? Something like this

Hi, a sudden 'failure' of the hydraulic system could be down to something as simple as incorrect positioning of the isolating valve as ptfarmer has suggested. There are numerous types but this tractor might have something similar to the valve shown in the photo. It is easy to inadvertantly 'kick' the valve when getting on or off. Can you hear the hydraulic system straining or the engine labouring? If so this may be the answer.

I also have a diverter valve on my 150. I left it in the aux position when I parked it. My Uncle went to mow with it and couldn't get the 3-point to lift.

Trick must have worked :)

It's pretty easy to "kick" that valve, and you don't know that you even did it.
