Am looking for some info on a MF turf special. Purchased it this spring for $1000. It has the4 cyl gas engine. It looks very similar to the standard 3165 except for the width. With the rear tires in measure almost 8' across at the rear. I believe the year is about 1970. Runs great and seems to have plenty of power. I was wondering if anyone had any insight into this model and if a front loader off of a 3165 would work on this model?

It's pretty much the same as the 3165 utility except the 3165 turf has a adjustable width front axle, drum instead if disk brakes, and no planetaries on the rear axle.

Not sure if anyone would know specifically but would the front loader and possibly backhoe attachments work on this model?

The front end loader should probably bolt right on, the backhoe is different story, it takes good size hydraulic pump to run a backhoe which your 3165 probably doesn't have plus the mounts for it. If you really need a backhoe it's a lot less trouble, and probably cheaper to get a loader/backhoe rather than try to piece one together. Do you have the loader for it already, or? Also does your tractor have the provision on the front support to an a external hydraulic pump off of?

from what I have read it has the hookup for external hydraulics. it almost exactly like a standard 3165 just a wider rear end and a couple small cosmetic pieces. the book on it says its capable of running external hydraulics, there is a setting on the side of the tractor to switch over to hydraulics (other than the 3 point hitch).

Only problem with using the 3 point hydraulic system is that the loader will be a lot slower than if it had it's own external higher gpm pump.
