135 Massey questions

Hello everyone. I have a couple of questions on a 1965
Massey 135. I bought it not running because I am not smart
enough to buy a running tractor. It is probably the base model
as it has a 6 speed no power steering 3 gauges no live pto. It
is a pretty straight complete machine though. My question is if
all have live hydraulics? I don't see a pump like my fords but
am hoping there is something internal? I will order a manual.
If no live hydraulics this is essentially a little more powerful 8n?
Not being critical. It is what it is. I bought it cheap enough and
it is a cute little booger. I will clean it up and put it to work at
something. 145 gas by the way.

Are u sure on that? With the 134? I push the clutch and it goes down half hits a much harder but springy area but I cannot turn the pto by hand. This seems a pretty base model but does have power adjust rims.

most are 2 stage clutch for live pto, 3 point lift and remotes if set up with remotes, as for being compared to a 8n that's an underestimate

Not that I've seen, there is a access hole at the bottom on the bell housing so you can adjust the clutch.

A single stage clutch.

A 2 stage clutch.

If it has a 134 engine, it is a 135 special. They were a bare bones tractor. The deluxe had a z145, tach, 2 stage clutch and other extras.

Did the special ever have live pto?

Thanks for all the replies everyone. I am not being derogatory but it seems odd in 1965 to have a non live pto non live hydraulic tractor. I know they can be useful without all of that. I guess simple makes it indestructible. No options means nothing will break down. I will get a manual and make this a runner if the engine is not too messed up.

Thanks again.
Jason

I'm sure the special would have the 2 stage clutch live PTO as an option. To be honest I have yet to see any 135 that had a single stage clutch, or didn't have live, or independent PTO. If your tractor doesn't have a external spool valve to work a hydraulic cylinder it can be added, but you can't operate a hydraulic cylinder, and the 3 point at the same time. The hydraulic system at the time these tractors were built are different than the ones on newer tractors. MF even has a special operators manual just for the hydraulics on these tractors.

Thats a awesome little tractor. I have one myself. I rebuilt the one i bought cheap this winter. Had a knock in it. total rebuild of the motor. I also have the manual. So if you need any info ill be glad to look it up for ya untill you get yours. Then again all the good folks on here will be more than glad to help with there knowledge which is much better than a manual most of the time. I also have a clutch and presure plate for that tractor i removed from mine which is still in great shape ill sell cheap cheap but only if you need it. there was nothing wrong with it when i replaced it i just wanted a new one to go back in it. You will love that tractor its a work horse for its size.
