MF 3070 CRACKED FORWARD ENGINE MOUNTS

I have a 1992 MF 3070. I notice a oil leak on the left forward side of the engine. There is about a 3 to 4 inch crack the oil seeps out. The crack is right at the left engine mount just above the oil pan. How bad is this.

Probably not good could mean the front axle
carrier is loose and somethings moving around
causing it to crack.
If it was mine i would be thinking about a
professional and probably expensive, weld repair and checking the bolts
that hold the front axle casting to the front of the
tractor.

I had a 2500 forklift in the shop with a
Perkins 3cyl motor in, all the axle mounting
bolts where loose on that but luckily it hadn"t
wrecked the block.

Thanks, I was thinking about seeing if I can get it repaired on the tractor. I read something about HTS-528 aluminum brazing rod on the web today but I do not have the skills or time for a new project.

I did find a bolt loose, but have not gone thru the rest. will look at the rest once I get back out to the

Hi
I did a quick read on the rod sounds good in
theory to weld cast, but what concerns me is if
you got oil in the block coming out.

1 getting the area clean of internal oil
contamination. Then keeping it clean to braze
properly.

2 what happens if the oil catches fire inside
the motor that you can't properly drain out with all the heat you need to put in. an
internal fires gonna make a big mess of things.

I have never welded/ brazed something like that
in this situation. I think you need the
professionals opinion, and be prepared it might
be cheaper to get a used motor in the worst
option. I think personally a guy trying to save
money, could stuff this up more than the cost
of doing it right the first time, if things
don't go to your plan.

:(

I was thinking the same thing. Was just hoping I could get a better answer. I did not really want to hear that.

Calling a welder today. Thanks.

The AGCO part number for the block is 3637381M91. The Perkins part number for the block is 61676. Just incase your block can't be repaired for some reason.

Thanks I found one $4300 for just the block. I am screwed.

Hi
I know thats not what you wanted to hear,
but I give the same answer here as you would
get if you were a shop customer of mine. I was
trying to remember what that motor mount is
like on the 3cyl Perk didn't change some
designs much over the years.
I wonder if maybe that crack runs round behind
the back of the timing case where it bolts to
the front of the motor and thats why it leaks.
If the mounts the same on the 3cyl, i think it
comes right out the bottom corner under the
timing case as you got axle mount bolts in the pan front, and then maybe a bracket bolted to the block above the pan bolt line on the block side of it.
Regards Robert

The front support bolts to the block just like the other MF's.

On another note the older 165, and 265 tractors use the same engine without a turbo. AGCO does not show a Perkins part number for the 165 block. On the 265 even though the block has different AGCO part number for the block (743070M91 for tractors after serial number 9A349239) the Perkins part number for the block is 61676.
