MF461 / Head Gasket?

Hello All, need a little help if possible.

I have a 2004 MF 461, with a Perkins 1103 Turbo diesel in it. I know that it"s not even close to an antique, but hope you guys can help.

I think i have a blown head gasket, pretty small, but will surely get worse with time...

1) Engine makes lots of blowby, with occasional drips of water, out the breather.
2) when cold, it has a sort of mis-fire at idle, seemingly normal when rpm"s are up.
3) seems to be using a very small amount of coolant.
4) When fully up to temp, and working hard, pulling up a long hill... exhaust smells hot, like new paint burning in.. but engine is not particularly hot.
5) Oil fill cap always has water drops under it, and a very small amount of emulsified oil in the tube.

The crankcase oil looks very good, and I thought at one point I gained a little bit ~1/4" but it hasn"t changed since.

My assumption is that i have a very slight breach in the headgasket, causing the crankcase pressure, and the usage of water. I think it is slight enough that the heat of the engine keeps the water boiled out of hte oil.

I"m planning on pulling the head, having it checked/resurfaced, and changing the gasket. Before I do so, any thoughts? or things to check?

I so hope that it is not a crack,,, heads are damn expensive.

thanks so much, ahead of time
