Massey 35 stuck in reverse

I know this has been covered but I am unable to fix my issues. The tranny in my massey 35 got stuck in reverse while in use. I followed the directions that people have supplied regarding moving the large gear forward using a screw driver in the oil fill. I have done this and it slid about 1.5" forward however the shifter is still stuck and has no movement. Any suggestions on correcting the situation would be appreciated. I have photos if that helps.

Do as rich said,
Also might try tying the clutch petal in the down
position to relieve pressure from the clutch plate.

I assume the shifter forks are crossed or out of
track. On my old TO35 I just used a,long heavy
screw driver and popped the shifter fork back in
place.

Note to file: if worn shifter forks are the problem
and you do get gears un crossed. From now on,
always, always place a slight downward force on the
shifter lever as you shift gears. An shift slower,
no speed shifting.

This procedure has worked for me for years, on my
old TO35.

I had the same problem a couple of days ago, I depressed the clutch and slid the big gear forward and the shifter was still stuck so I slid the gear the other way and the transmission came unstuck...you just have to find that "sweet spot"

Just get in there and start trying to move the gears back and forth while moving the shift lever gently left to right. Eventually it will move back and forth easily and be in neutral. After you've done it once or twice it will become much easier. The first time can be a little intimidating. As others have said, make sure the H/L lever is in neutral and have it on flat ground.

Once you get it un-stuck, when you shift, make slow, deliberate movements and don't lift up on the shifter as you move it.
