Trouble adding a Diverter/Selector to a MF135

Hello,

I've been reading the forums and gaining knowledge on my family's MF135 that my grandpa bought new in 1967. I've been using it for years for light duty work around the farm, but it has never had auxiliary hydraulics. I've recently acquired a 3 point hitch forklift with a three spool control and have been looking forward to installing the necessary hardware to use it. I bought the often mentioned selector valve VFD1104 to replace the 180908M1-cover plate.

When I went to replace the pieces this weekend I ran into an issue - the cover plate would not come off... The two bolts came loose and the plate will spin (until it hits a nearby nut), but it will not come off. I have not pried on it as excess force without knowledge goes against my better judgment, but I am at a loss and looking for suggestions.

I do not currently have a service manual but my brother in law intends to send me one when he gets a chance.

Any thoughts/suggestions/experience with this?

Thanks,
John

It will come off. It is the oring and backup washer that is holding it in. Just gently pry on it. If the standpipe comes out with it that is ok. That would give you a chance to check the oring and backup washer on the other end of the standpipe. Those are common leak points. If it was me I would replace those while I had it apart.

(quoted from post at 15:20:54 08/30/14) Thanks Jason! Do you know if they are just standard washers?
I believe they are. The backup washers are Agco only around here. They are white Teflon washers that spiral on to the standpipe. If yours are ok then I would just change the oring and be done. When I pulled my 175 apart I had to have both.
