165 position control cam finger spring

1965, 165MF seems to be missing a spring that connects the position control cam finger to the cam mechanism.
According to the manual the spring removal and assy is part of the process but I don't see one. It does seem like there should be one as the spring loaded shaft pushes all the way out of the hole and the long spring comes off if I push the PC lever to the bottom of the quad. Can anyone post a pic or part number?
My cam mechanism was damaged which might explain the spring missing but I haven't found it inside the case either

Might be completely out of line here, but our local Ace hardware store, and also our local farm 'n home, have these big boxes / assortments of springs, seems like every possible size in the collection, seems like 150 different springs. Tiny flimsy ones all the way up to 8" long very thick and heavy ones. MIght not help, but it might if you could get an idea of the correct size, and if the proper MF one costs a house payment or two.

Yes PT that"s exactly what I"m looking for.

Where does it attach to the cam mechanism? I see a hole in the finger where I assume it goes.

Also, is this what keeps the cam mechanism snug to keep the long rod / spring from pushing out of the hole on the vertical lever mounting plate?
