TEA20 loss of revs/power

Hi folks,

I'm new to the forum and was hoping to get some info on an issue with my wee TEA20. Whilst mowing short grass with my flail mower I experienced a loss of engine revs and power so that the mower cut out. The engine sounded ok just down on the usual revs. I'm no expert on mechanics but immediately thought I had lost a cylinder. I checked and cleaned the plugs which looked ok and restarted however I'm still down on power. Has anyone else experienced this or have any pointers or where to direct my at tension next?

Cheers for any help.

Does it make any abnormal noise or vibration? If you loose a cylinder it will most likely cause a very slight vibration. Had that happen with my 35. When I checked the plugs for spark when out, one of them was firing from the side of the electrode inside the plug and not from the end to the proper ground.
Could also be a fuel related problem although you don't say that the engine dies completely.

My distributor on my 57 to35 slipped and retarded to the point it wouldn't cut in low gear. Check your timing.

Thanks for the replys. The motor does not cut out completely unless run at very low revs or working a little harder (for example engaging pto). I will have a look at the distributor and throw in new plugs tomorrow if this rain ever stops :). Cheers
