is the throttle control on the mf-65 gas spring loaded, thus going back to the idle position when let go off? the only way to keep my throttle above the idle position, is to hold the throttle level with one hand & steer with other.

There's a tension in the lever to hold it. On the gas model I think if you look behind the battery and under the dash you will find nuts to tighten up to increase tension

There is an adjustment you can make to tighten up the friction disc, it's 2 bolts on a plate on the steering shaft. You can see it if you peer up at that area under the dash. It's possible that your's has the same issue as mine and the star shaped disc on the throttle rod itself that run between the friction material is broken. I have my local MF dealer looking for one for me. She's taking her time about it.

Spring star part# is 184 150 M2.
