MF 65 Value

I'm toying with a tractor on CL. It's a MF 65, comes with loader and back blade which I don't need. Loader would be nice. He's asking $5500.00; I'm thinking to offer 4500. It's been on CL for about a month. Either he won't budge on price or little interest.

Pricing is one thing, getting it sold is another.
Worth about 3500 to 4000 here, and needs to all work and good tires to get that.
A 65 is a great tractor, but not as comportable for the little guy to operate (that clutch is tough on old guys), and a set of brakes or plantitarys cost a fortune versus a 35 or 50.

If you are going to look at it check the brakes, and check the lube in the planetarys (most people never check, or change the oil in there). If the lube in the planetarys look brown, or has water in them it's not worth buying (run away). Another thing it is a regular farm tractor with a front end loader on it, the front axle, and spindles really take a beating because they aren't built heavy enough for a loader that sees a lot of continuous use. If you don't plan to use the loader much it's kind of a inconvenience, it's usually in the way. Something else to consider if it's a gas, or diesel, diesels bring more $ than a gasser. If you really need a loader, and use it a lot you are better off buying a industrial tractor with a loader, but some industrials don't have a 3 point, or pto.

I've seen this tractor before. Both on ebayband on this forum. It seems they were having hydraulic issues with the loader. On eBay, if I remember right it was around a 2000 dollar tractor. Good tractor but everything would need to be top notch to bring that kind of coin.
