MF Industrial 20 with backhoe

Looking for info on above tractor. Neighbor is thinking of buying one and doing some research for him. I looked it over and it looks like a basic MF 135 with a 3 cylinder gas. The backhoe has the rotation cylinder to swing the boom which I read is very hard to get parts for. It did not show signs of leakage so the hope is it will be touble free for sometime to come. Has anyone had luck repairing the rotation cylinder on these lately? Am I correct that most 135 parts will fit the tractor?
The exhaust pipe looked like an 8N Ford horitzonal pipe that was rigged up at a strange angle. The manifold was a bottom outlet. Did the original go down under the tractor or did a pipe make a 90 degree back up with a muffler on top?

Another issue: There are 3 point top lift arms and a PTO but owner says neither worked the 1.5 yrs he as had it. He thought maybe they were "turned off" or something. Any ideas on this? Someone said the PTO was Hyd. operated and the pump might be bad. Any truth here?

One more----the power steering cylinders have a ball tie rod type end which seems pretty worn. How is the best was to repair this as they were welded onto the cylinder rod.

Thanks, LB

have owned one now for 7 yrs its a 1973
you are correct that the mf 20 is based off of a 135
notable differaces would be shuttle shift front mounted hyd pump for the loader and backhoe higher geared 3rd gear ratio and the color
mine doesn't have the pto or 3 pt hook ups
the steering cyls are avlible from what i have heard but i have not tried to buy them how ever the person i bought mine from had replaced them the yr before as well he had agro rebuild the rotory cyl at that time as well
it probably wouldn't be that hard to cut off the old ones and reweld new tie rods with the correct dia joint for replacement as the taper is pretty well standard
biggest problem with the rotorycyl is the main pin so as long as you don't over load it it shouldbe fine
the cyl for the loader and the bachoe are no longer offerd by agco but there are rebuild kits in stock at some dealers
any hyd shop can get repair parts though at a greatly reduced price
the exhast comes down and out the back under the back axle on mine
from what i've seen its the same on 135's in my area andtsc stocks them on the shelf as i belive they also fit a number of tractors 65 bucks here in cananda
i wouldn't hesitate to buy another one as i've had good service from mine using it for loader backhoe work and hauling wagons
as it has a fast road gear i use it on the wagon for hauling all the time and have driven it one way 60 + miles took 3 1/2 hrs one tank of fuelbut mine is a 3 cyl perkins diesel
onlt repairs made to mine was a starter drive and a burned out head gasket a a couple hyd hoses
hope this helps

Thanks very much. Most helpful. It has been bought and I'm going to day to haul it home for the new owner. LB
