180 steering question

Having trouble with my 180D steering. Tractor steers to the left from the straight ahead position easily, but when steered to the right from the straight ahead position it will not turn about 25% of the time. When it does steer right it turns normally. I replaced the CHAR-LYNN hand pump and this made no difference. The engine driven P.S. pump seems fine, has clean oil and filter. The only thing left is the front rack. Would my steering problem indicate a problem with the front steering rack and pistons? Thanks for any thoughts you might have on this. I'm stumped.

Thanks for the reply. When it fails to turn, the steering wheel just spins and the front wheels stay in the straight ahead position. I was messing with it today and it acts the same with the engine not running. Some of the time it would catch and try to turn the wheels and sometimes the wheel would spin. Thanks again for any help.

I have a 180 and had the same problem...check the shaft that goes to the steering motor...mine had moved up off the splines just enough to sometimes slip on it...top bearing might be wore some, i put a shim in and problem solved.
