I was just reading an article about a Massey Harris Fergusen Pony in Antique Power magazine. It mentioned that the European Ponys were built in France with either a Simca car engine or a 2 cylinder 2 stroke diesel. I would love to see a diesel model. Anyone know if any ever made it to North America?

The Massey Collectors Association is having their national show at Rushville, IN. this weekend, right now. There will probably be several there

They made the Massey Ferguson 820D with the Hanomag 2 strokes engine, and later, the 821 which is the same, exception of the hood similar to the MF35.
They were build in North of France, same factory than the combines.
before that they made the 811 and 812, that were very similar to the 11Pony, except for the panel behind the dash that were flatter, and the engine that was different, with a welded front frame.

They even made "vigneron" versions (Vineyard) in English, that are rarer but not really uncommon.
Those tractors were huge success, and many have been kept, and they are good garden tractors now.

This is a vigneyard Diesel for sale. It is in 'wide' thread settings, but normally, the tractor is down to 79cm wide, which is 2'7" wide... That was the width required to go between some narrow vines, that were still cultivated with horses or motor-tiller. This example has also a 3pt hitch!

Attached are a few pic's of an MF21 with its 2 cylinder Hanomag diesel, which we had in our possession briefly for partial restoration.

Thanks for those pics. That is a neat looking little tractor. Always learning more about tractors. Do you know how these French built tractors made it to the states? Did they actually offer them for sale at Massey dealerships?

Not sure that the 20's / 21's actually appeared Stateside, though I could be wrong. The 25 was fairly common as the smaller sized tractor in US for a while and a few still around. The one pictured is in France. It actually still has fittings for a belly mower.

Hi Super!

I have an MH 820 Vineyard with the Hanomag diesel,an MH 812 with Simca gas, an 821 with Hanomag diesel and an 821 with a Peugeot gas (somewhat rare only about 1000 made in France - not seen another one in North America!) All were at Rushville. I would be happy to send you some pics. I am selling my 821 with Hanomag diesel once I get the starter fixed. That might have to go back across the pond for repair.
